Sport - Some sports radio stations that are around right now is Talksport FM and its available on its primary frequency in London, 1089 kHz as well as 1053 kHz, 1071 kHz, DAB, Sky are more. They also have a website called talksport.com. Another thing is the commentary in sports like football, rugby etc. They introduce themselves and give the audience the line ups if its football for example. They talk through out the game with different tones of voice to be entertaining for audience. The commentators are a big asset because a lot of fans cannot make it or may not be able to afford it so the commentators can tell you all about the game.
Current events - Some news radio stations are BBC Radio 5 live, BBC Radio 4, BBC world service and more. Things they talk about right now is COVID 19, the problem with Russia and Ukraine which is being called 'World War 3'. A programme on BBC Radio 4 is 'The world this weekend'. A way they make it interesting for the audience is that they start it off with the biggest news which is a good way to kick it off. The programme has more then one presenter which speak on different types of news.
Lifestyle - There is a programme on BBC radio 4 called 'Woman's hour'. This programme allows different opinions to be said. It has a presenter and guests and they talk about topics based on peoples lifestyles and real events. The programme also has times when it can start with serious news that can relate to the listeners. The content focuses on specific things which would be based on how some lifestyle shows target a specific audience. Woman's hour has been on the air since 1946, which shows that its a programme the audience enjoy and can relate to especially woman.
Dramatizations - Wimsey - After an unexplained death of a ju for copywriter at a top advertising agency, Lord Peter Wimsey goes undercover and investigates it. The programme begins with sound effects e.g footsteps and doors opening to show the audience how real it is, by adding sound effects it could make the audience feel involved. It also puts an image in the listeners head of how things could look like. It also begins with uplifted music which is a bit different as its a programme about murder. This could be to get the audience in different types of moods so they are ready for the main part.
The programme I analysed was Fairy Meadow and the difference that and Woman's hour is more of a lifestyle programme which focuses on health and people. However Fairy Meadow is a crime drama about the missing of a girl. A similarity could be that both programmes is to entertain the audience. Another similarity is that both programmes have a presenter that's talking through out it. Both shows are based in England which is a similarity because its much different to programmes in USA.
Fairy Meadow has a mixed casting of both genders which is the opposite of woman's hour, which consists of female presenters and guests only. In Fairy Meadow the presenter travels to talk to family members whereas woman's hour is all sitting down. Woman's hour is all about their health and work life, however Fairy meadow is a case that has been reopened to be investigated more. A main difference is that the programmes are complete different genres but the main thing for all programmes is to entertain the audience.
